Vitamin D Deficiency Risks
According to a recent article by Yahoo, autism is linked to a vitamin D deficiency in pregnancy. Research cited states that a vitamin D deficiency in week 20 of a pregnancy resulted in a higher chance of having a "child who displayed autistic traits by the age of 6". The article further states that in the United Stated 40% - 60% of people have a vitamin D deficiency, while also citing previous research linking low vitamin D levels in newborns with an increased risk of schizophrenia.
